Jean Jones

Jean Jones passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Weatherford Regional Medical Center, at age 94, approximately two weeks shy of her 95th birthday. Graveside service: 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Abilene Municipal Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. Visitation: 6-8 PM, Friday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas. Jean is survived by her daughter, Brenda Tompkins; son, JR Jones; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Jean was class queen of Canton High School, after graduation she moved to Dallas where she put herself through Draughn’s Business School driving a milk truck. She married Jack R Jones until his death in 1970. She was past Worthy Matron of Easter Star, Abilene Texas 1956-57 and a member of the Grand Chapter. She started a thrift shop which raised funds for a new Order of Eastern Star Temple in Abilene. Jean was a successful business woman in Richardson, Texas in the late 60s and early 70s. Since moving to Weatherford in 1997, she was a member of North Side Baptist Church. Jean was cherished by all her family and left us all with many treasured memories.
