Jeannette Bailey

January 8, 1934 — March 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannette Pryor Glenn Bailey, who left us on March 27, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on January 8, 1934, Jeannette lived a life full of passion, adventure, and love.

Jeannette grew up in New Diana but considered Mount Vernon her true hometown. She attended New Diana High School and later studied at Kilgore College. After completing her education, she moved to Dallas, Texas, to begin her young adult life. In 1955, she married the love of her life, David Glenn, and together they built a life full of love and family. In 1963, the family moved to Mesquite, Texas, where they raised three children. Jeannette was a devoted stay-at-home mother until her youngest child began school. At that time, she decided to pursue a career in real estate. She obtained her real estate license and went on to have a successful career, which brought her much fulfillment and allowed her to help others in her community.

Sadly, David passed away in 1972, leaving Jeannette to raise their children on her own. She remained single until meeting Dean Bailey while square dancing. In 1997, they married, and together they shared many wonderful years. Through her marriage to Dean, Jeannette gained two stepchildren and numerous additional grandchildren, expanding the family she cherished. Dean preceded her in death in 2004.

Jeannette had many interests and hobbies that brought joy and fulfillment to her life. She had a deep love for travel, exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. Her curiosity also extended to genealogy, where she spent countless hours tracing family roots and connecting with her ancestors. She was an avid reader, especially fond of poetry, which she enjoyed both reading and sharing with others. Jeannette also loved square dancing, an activity that brought her much joy and connection with others throughout her life. In addition, she had a unique passion for raising birds, which brought her great happiness and a sense of tranquility.

Jeannette is survived by her daughters, Glenda Ratcliffe (Steve) and Laura Ritchie (Jeff); daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Glenn; stepson, Gary Bailey (Cindy); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Jack Pryor (Amy), Damon Pryor (Cary Jo), Butch Pryor (Edith), and sisters, Margie Foreman and Sue Little; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husbands, David Glenn and Dean Bailey; son, Mark Glenn; her parents, Claxton and Geneva Pryor; brother, Bill Pryor; sister, Mary Jo Davidson; and her beloved dog, Casey.

Her family and friends will forever remember her for her love of adventure, her dedication to family, and her kind and generous heart.

Though Jeannette is no longer with us, her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the stories she shared. She will be deeply missed but always cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.

Rest in peace, Jeannette. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
