Jerry Alan Staggs, 75, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Jerry was born December 25, 1948, in San Diego, California, to Bobbie Staggs and Phyllis (Jones) Wright. He was a United States Army Air veteran and served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter crew chief for the 282nd Assault Helicopter Command Company. Following his military career, Jerry moved mobile homes for a living for a short while working diligently to become a licensed A & P Mechanic and IA.
He and his wife, LoLetta, opened up a helicopter repair station called Tarrant County Aero; Jerry would repair and restore helicopters. Together they ran the company for 25 years. Jerry used his passion for flying helicopters and volunteered his skills for the Parker County Sheriff's department, assisting them in aerial searches and surveillance when needed, and only charging for the fuel needed to fly.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the National Vietnam War Museum in Mineral Wells and the 282nd Assault Helicopter Company; he was a Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, as well. His latest passion was tinkering with short wave radios.
