Jerry Doyle Karnes, age 72, of Weatherford passed from this life December 28, 2021 as a result of Covid pneumonia. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Arlene. They have one son, Byron Austin Karnes, of Gordon, Texas and two granddaughters Macie and Kylie Karnes of Gordon, Texas. There are also two nieces, Tonya Cook of Houston, Tammie Crockett of Brock, and one nephew Mark Winblood of Weatherford, Texas.
Jerry was raised on the west side of Fort Worth and mainly in El Rancho as a child. He was a baseball All-Star pitcher and went to Arlington Heights High School. He was a general contractor and custom trim carpenter, having built many homes in Weatherford and in North Texas following the tradition of his family. He was the son of Jesse D. and Faye Karnes who preceded him in death.
In 1968 Jerry served in the Marine Corps Reserves and continued for six years. In later years Jerry served as a shepherd of the Parkhill Church in Ft Worth and Azle. He often led singing for church as he had a beautiful singing voice.
He is also survived by his little dog Cooper that he loved and four other rescues.
