Jerry Fatout

August 31, 1934 — May 9, 2010

Jerry Fatout died on Sunday, May 9, 2010 after a courageous
battle with lung cancer. Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 am,
at Couts United Methodist Church in Weatherford and also on Wednesday, 2:00 pm
at Windcrest United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas.  Jerry was born August 31, 1934 in El Dorado,
Kansas to Tom and Marie Fatout. His family moved to Odessa, TX in 1948. Jerry
graduated from Odessa High School and joined the US Army and served 4 years. He
married Bobbie Lee Blakney in 1956 and they made Odessa their home until 1978
when they moved to Ozona. He retired from Harrison Interests as the West Texas
Field Superintendent in 1999 and moved with his wife to San Antonio where he
enjoyed playing golf and spending many hours as a valued servant of Windcrest
UMC. His wife, Bobbie, passed away in 2004. He later married Karen Turner, making
Weatherford his new home. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and
brother. He was also a very devoted Christian and a member of Couts UMC. He
dedicated his time to serving as carpenter and "go-to" man at his
church, AARP Tax Aide volunteer at the Center of Hope, and Habitat for
Humanity. He always had a smile on his face and was eager to share his
carpentry and multitude of handy-man skills. He will be remembered for his
patience, generosity and willingness to help others. Survivors include his wife
Karen Turner Fatout, daughters Marcy Williams of San Antonio, Leslie Wilson and
husband Tommy of Dublin, Tx, Jill Francis and husband Delbert Chumley of Fort
Worth; grandchildren Morgan Williams, Adriane Ullman, and Myra Wilson; and 5
great grandchildren; one brother, Don Fatout and his wife Leslie of San Marcos;
nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
Jerry's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Center for
Cancer and Blood Disorders as well as the caring hands of Odyssey Hospice.
