Jerry Lynn Herringer, 59, of Weatherford went home to be with his Mom and Dad on Thursday, December 23, 2010. Born August 4, 1951 in Odessa, Texas to Henry E. and Lora Lee Herringer, Jerry was a resident of Parker County for most of his life. He was a welder for Weatherford International and later a truck driver for Stroud Oil, a member of the Church of God, an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry was a high school football star with numerous scholarship offers, but decided to forgo college and join the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Jerry served in the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) after fulfilling his five year commitment in the Navy, he graduated from Weatherford Junior College with an Applied Science degree. Jerry and his friends and family traveled many states following his love of hunting and fishing, which is why in his later years you could find him in his shop reloading bullets or making rifles. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Glen Stone and Lee Herringer.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Deborah; daughters, Debra of California and Rebbecca (Ulises); sons, Jerry, Jr (Melissa) and Joseph all of Weatherford; sisters, Beatrice Stone of California, Judy Rollag (Jim) of Minnesota and Evelyn Gilbert of Fort Worth; brothers, Tommy Stone of Fort Worth, Henry Herringer, David Herringer (Charlotte), Jeffery Herringer all of Weatherford and Karl Herringer (Eileen) of California; 10 grandchildren, Brian and Taylor Nickelson, Tristan and Jerry (Jay) Herringer, Ulises and Adrianna Quinones, Jessica, Shawn, Miranda and Joshua Heggie.
Funeral service: 2:00 PM. Monday, December 27, 2010 in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Red Waller officiating. Visitation: 6-8 PM, Sunday in the chapel at Galbreaith Pickard. Interment in East Greenwood Cemetery.
