Jesse Wallace, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Odyssey Hospice House in Fort Worth, TX, with his loving wife at his side. JW, as he was known by many of his friends, was born March 31, 1939 in Stamps, Arkansas to Jesse and Mattie, nee Roberts, Wallace. JW came to Dallas and joined the Dallas Fire Department at the age of 18 1/2. He went on to have a 40 year career as a Dallas firefighter, working almost his whole career at Station 25 in South Oak Cliff. He loved being a firefighter and mentored many young rookies that came to work at the station. For over twenty years he also worked at Central Freight Lines as a truck driver. JW was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors: wife, Nancy, nee Williams; sons, Michael Wallace and wife, Sandy of Pella, Iowa and Paul Dean Wallace of Garland, TX; daughter, Michelle Lee Gish and husband, Joe of Hartford, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Rachael and Mary Wallace, Daniel and Rebekah Anderson, and Austin Wallace.
Memorial: 11 AM Tuesday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
