Jewel Pauline Gilliland, age 91, of Weatherford, died Monday morning, June 2, 2008 in the local hospital. She was born June 21, 1916 in Weatherford, where she had lived all her life. She was a homemaker, and Cafeteria Manager at James Bowie School for 39 years and a member of North Side Baptist Church. Her greatest joys were being Grandmuddy to her great grandchildren, her flower garden, her birds and watching her boys(the Texas Rangers) play ball. Mrs. Gilliland was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Gilliland, Parents, Luther and Ada Holman, sister, Charlene Miles, Brothers, Roy Lee Holman. Richard Ray Holman, Bill Holman and a son-in-law, Donald Durham. Jewel is survived by her daughters, Anita Durham of Weatherford and Linda Holcomb and husband, Jim of Weatherford; sister-in-law, JoAn Holman; grandchildren, Alecia Durham, Scott Durham, Shane and Katie Durham, Angie Durham, Seth and Debbie Holcomb, Jennifer Holcomb, Toby and Renee Holcomb and honorary granddaughter, Shelly Meehan; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; special cousins, Dee DiCapua and family; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service: 10:00 AM, Friday June 5, 2008 at East Greenwood Cemetery with Lynnell Strauss officiating.
Visitation: 6-8 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2008 in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
