Jewell Mae Phelan

Jewell Mae Fulks Phelan, 90, of Weatherford, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2020, at a local nursing facility. Graveside service will be Thursday, January 14, at 2:00 p.m., in the East Greenwood Cemetery.

Viewing will be open to the public in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, Weatherford from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and signing of the book only. Due to the Covid situation in Parker County, the family would rather use the side of caution for everyone.

Jewell was born May 1, 1930, in Weatherford, to Ogla and Sallie Brawley Fulks. She married Larence Phelan on February 8, 1947, and was a longtime member of North Side Baptist Church. They had one son.

Jewell loved children, many times she would be found outside at family gatherings running around playing with them. Jewell also enjoyed going to musical in Stephenville with her friend Linda Gaskill and to the Spring Creek Musical here in Weatherford.

She worked for WISD in the lunch room and as a school crossing guard for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Doyle and Bob Fulks; and two sisters, Martha Fulks Morton and Marie Fulks Bradley; her husband, Larence; son, Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Faye Jackson Phelan; and granddaughter, Tara Jo Phelan.

Jewell is survived by her grandson, Kevin Phelan and his girlfriend, Shelly Alcorn; great-granddaughters, Krysta and Natosha Phelan; great-great granddaughters, Mattie, Jaylie, and Blakely Gustafson. She is survived by her only living sibling, Ruby Lee Fulks Peacock; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Fulks; and many nieces and nephews.
