Jim Bert "J.B." Strickland

Jim Bert ("J.B.") Strickland, age 92, passed away on September 1, 2021, after a brief illness. He was born in Shannon, Texas on February 5, 1929, to Marshall Webster ("M.W.") and Bertha (McAnear) Strickland and attended school in Antelope, Texas. His family moved to Sundown, Texas where they operated an icehouse. J.B. served in the Army from April 16, 1953 - April 15, 1955. He then moved to Millsap, Texas where he farmed peanuts and raised black angus cattle. One of his proud accomplishments was being named Parker County Peanut Farmer of the Year. He worked for Parker County Precinct 3 in his later years and eventually retired. He was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Millsap Bulldogs.

In addition to his parents, J.B. was preceded in death by his three brothers: Howard Strickland, G.S. ("Bud") Strickland, and Travis Strickland.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Strickland of Lipan; son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Carol Strickland of Millsap; daughters and sons-in-law, Jerri and John Aaron of Millsap and Sandy and Daryl Krause of Dallas; stepdaughter, Martha and husband, Jay Jackson of Lipan; stepson, Stephen Parks, of Lipan; his sister, Bonnie Sue McClellan of Houston; grandchildren: Deanna, Jennifer, Michelle, Matt, Charlie, Callie, John, Casey, Julie, and Andrew; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Windsor Court Senior Living, Alpha Omega Hospice, and Medical City Weatherford, especially Maddie, RN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Soda Springs Baptist Church, Millsap Heritage Society, or the Millsap Alumni Scholarship Foundation.
