Jimmy Hemphill, 80, of Weatherford, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Mr. Hemphill was born September 20, 1930 in New Hope Community Texas. He formerly owned and operated Jimmy Hemphill Motor Company, was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an active member of Keystone Sunday School Class. He was a former Weatherford City Councilmen and former Sheriff Posse Captain. Mr. Hemphill was a current member of the Knights of Pythias and many other local organizations. Jimmy was known as the nut salesman from First United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his son, Jarvis Hemphill and his beloved wife Betty.
Survivors: Wife – Carole Hemphill of Weatherford; Daughters – Judy Spradlin and husband Jerry of Weatherford Melinda Hill and husband Donny of Weatherford; Sons – Jerald Hemphill and wife Robin of Orlando, Florida and Sonny Mays and wife Susan of Weatherford; Sister – Royce Cotton of Palm Springs, CA; Thirteen grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday in the Newberry Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Glen Jones officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8 pm in the chapel at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
