Jimmy Eldon Way, 76, of Millsap, Texas, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on April 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 31, 1947, in Weatherford, Texas, he was the son of Eldon Way and LaVena Sneed. Jimmy was a life-long resident of Parker County.
A patriot at heart, Jimmy was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968, serving his country with honor and bravery during the Vietnam War as a member of the 25th Infantry Division. His time in the service was marked by a deep sense of duty and camaraderie.
After returning from the war, Jimmy began a distinguished 30-year career with the Union Pacific Railroad. His dedication to his work as a brakeman and conductor was evident to all who knew him, and his stories from the rails were a testament to his love for the job.
Jimmy loved his family, reading Louis L’Amour books, watching black and white western movies, a good horse, hunting, fishing, eating burnt steaks, the Rocky Mountains and watching his grandkids play sports.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 51 years, Donice; his loving children, Jeff and Jamie Way of St. Augustine, Florida, Tracy and Jay King of Milsap, Texas, and Tela and David Gill of Rockwall, Texas.
He was the proud grandfather and great-grandfather to Shelby and Avery Romero, Hannah Way, Kaden and Brittany King, Lane King, and Laken and Gentry Romero, who were the joys of his life.
He is also survived by a host of remaining siblings, family members, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory. Jimmy was a man of integrity, strength, and kindness, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and will be profoundly missed by all.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on Saturday, May 4, at Outreach of Love Church, at 134 Otto Rd, Weatherford, Texas 76087, starting at 1:00 p.m. The family invites you to join them in honoring his memory.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital, an organization close to Jimmy's heart.
The Way family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and friends who supported Jimmy during his final days. Your compassion and care will never be forgotten.
