Jo Ann Rouse, 86, of Weatherford, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was born August 12, 1934, in Mount Vernon, Texas, to Bob and Lizzie Martin Hightower.
Ann was raised in Mount Vernon and attended school at Mount Vernon ISD. After graduating from high school, she received a BA from East Texas Teacher's College in Commerce, then a Master's in Education from East Texas State University in Commerce. Ann taught in Saltillo, Tyler, and San Angelo, before joining Midland ISD where she retired after teaching 2nd grade for a total of 38 years. She was a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional sorority for teachers, Texas Retired Teachers Association, and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford. Ann loved to spend time with her family, friends, and dog Sugar.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rusty Rouse; former husband, Bill Rouse; brother, Burian Hightower; and her sisters, Sue Kofahl and Dorothy Jean Tittle.
Ann leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews, Karen Baker, Lloyd Kofahl, Jackie Holder, Bob Hightower, Nan Shockley, Jan Campbell, and Leacho Tittle; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
