Joan Polinsky, 83, of Weatherford, passed away after a long illness at the Veranda Place Nursing Home in Weatherford on Sunday March 16, 2008. Joan was born to Elizabeth and George Daffron on August 11, 1924 in Birmingham, England and later moved to Alcester during World War II. In 1947, she relocated to Fort Worth and was working for Dr. T.C. Terrell when she met and married Harry Polinsky (who passed away in 1994). During their long and happy marriage, they had two sons. Joan enjoyed cooking, collecting antiques, her many pets and traveling. While a naturalized US citizen, she maintained a deep affection and attachment for England which she visited regularly. A gracious and vivacious hostess who loved to entertain, Joan was active at St. Anne's Episcopal Church of Fort Worth and was a dedicated volunteer at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History where she served as Guild President from 1987 to 1988, Hospitality Chairperson and in the museum library for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the British Empire.
She is Survived by 2 Sons; Peter Polinsky of Fort Worth, Paul Polinsky and wife Liz of Fort Worth and a brother; Ronald Daffron of England There was a celebration of Life for Joan On Wednesday March 26, 2008 The family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
