Joe Minshew, 94, passed away peacefully in his home on November 1st 2015.
Joe worked for General Dynamics (now Lockheed-Martin) for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the CCCs (Civilian Conservation Corps). He was an avid fisherman. Joe fished for decades on Benbrook Lake and also many years on Possum Kingdom Lake, where he had a cabin and broke multiple lake records for huge fish! Joe was a lifelong farmer; he continued to plow and plant a field into his 90s. His dill pickles were famous among family and friends.
Joe was an active member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Weatherford. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris, who passed away in 2007. Joe is survived by his granddaughter, Danielle Marie King, of Austin. He is also survived by two brothers, C.L. Minshew of Livingston and Arthur Minshew of Fort Worth; and by many awesome nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford, on Thursday, November 5, from 5 until 8 PM.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at Bethesda United Methodist Church on Friday, November 6, at 11 AM.
Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery
