Joel Rae Kleven, age 64, passed from this life on Sunday, October 2, 2022 in Weatherford, Texas. Joel was born September 29, 1958, in Westbrook, Minnesota to Oliver Kleven and Muriel (Hougen) Kleven.
Joel had many achievements throughout his life. He attended Iowa State University and Palmer College of Chiropractic where he obtained a Doctor of Chiropractic, Magna Cum Laude. He had numerous advanced chiropractic certifications and had a private chiropractic practice, 1983 - 2022. Additionally, he provided complimentary chiropractic services to several non-profit organizations in and around Parker County. Joel also served as the President of the Palmer College of Chiropractic Texas Alumni Association.
Joel had a passion for being involved in his community and thrived on community service. He held many notable positions, including serving as the Vice-President of the Careity Foundation; Chairman of the Board for Weatherford Chamber of Commerce; a member for Weatherford Noon Lions Club for over 30 years where he served three terms as the president and was awarded the title “Lion of the Year“ on two separate occasions; the President of Parker County American Heart Association; Member of Parker County American Cancer Society; and the President of Parker County United Way.
Joel was also the owner of the 24 Plates Restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. He loved cooking and entertaining, especially when it involved family and close friends. Over the years, he enjoyed being in nature with activities such as jet skiing, wake surfing, and snow skiing. Backpacking across the Continental Divide as a sponsor for his church’s youth group was a highlight of his love for the outdoors.
Joel is survived by his son, Chris Kleven and wife, Priscilla and grandson, Benjamin Rae of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Bryce Kleven of Weatherford, Texas; son, John Michael Kleven and wife, Skye and grandchildren, Carter and Savannah of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Gary Kleven and wife, Maurene Kleven of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Laura Eichner and husband, Mark Eichner of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Linda Kleven of Albany, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews; Norman Gonzales and daughter, Alex of Fort Worth, Texas; and previous wife, Mary Beth Dennie and husband, John of Weatherford, Texas.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Muriel Kleven; brother; Larry Kleven; sister, Julie Kleven; and niece, Joanna Kleven.
