John P. Alvarez, 76, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at his residence. John was born November 30, 1944, in Yoakum, Texas, to Pedro and Guadalupe Perez Alvarez. He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Julia, Joe, Elena, Carlos, Daniel, Fidel, Eli and Delia.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita; children, Neva Rodriguez and husband, Alvaro, John Alvarez, Jr., and wife, Sandra, Moses Alvarez and wife, Jennifer; siblings, Rose Charles and husband, Fernando, Francisco Alvarez and wife, Susan, Esther Jimenez and husband, Joe, and Rachel Umanzor; seven grandchildren, Timothy Long, Whitney Long, Olivia Alvarez, Alex Alvarez, Evelyn Alvarez, Nicholas Alvarez, and Taylor Alvarez; as well as his great granddaughter, Mila Alvarez.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in East Greenwood Cemetery.
