John Jay Jackson, 78, departed from this life on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Jay was born May 27, 1944, in Macon, Georgia to John Jackson and Lillie Cater. He had a passion for writing from an early age; his writing is what led him to his career as an English teacher. Jay graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Western Michigan University, and taught at Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth. Throughout his life he wrote several books and became a self-published author, one in particular was where he met strangers on a Greyhound bus and was able to get each of their story's and put it to paper to share with others. When Jay wasn't writing, teaching, or learning, he could be found in the kitchen cooking something delicious. Jay's bright personality and love for life will be missed by all who knew him.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald Jackson and Tim Jackson; and sisters, Lois Rumph and Margie Coleman.
Jay is survived by his son, Marcus Jackson (Lashawn); grandchildren, Kiara, Marky, and Shanae; siblings, Pat Jackson, Betty Joiner, and Pete Jackson; good friend, Cletus Powell; and a host of other family members.
