John Randolph McGuire, III, age 88, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. John was born October 19, 1932, in Park Forest, Illinois, to John Randolph McGuire, Jr. and Edith Brandt McGuire.
He attended Highland Park Grade School, Chandler Junior High, and John Marshall High in Richmond, Virginia. John graduated at Arlington Heights High in Fort Worth, Texas, in the spring of 1950. He entered TCU in the fall of 1950 and graduated in the spring of 1954. While at TCU John lettered in freshman baseball and served as president of the campus YMCA.
He went to work at Fort Worth National Bank in July of 1954. In December of 1954 John joined the U.S. Army to serve his country. After serving honorably in the Army he returned to Fort Worth National Bank in January of 1957. John married Elaine York on March 30, 1957. While in banking John worked in Energy Lending, Trust Mineral Management, and Investment Management and Trust. He earned a Graduate Degree in Banking at Southern Methodist University while working at FWNB. He retired from banking on December 31, 1996 as a Vice President at Bank One after 39 years of service. During his career he served as Treasurer and as President of Adult Basic Education in Fort Worth. He was also a Director of the Fort Worth Founders Lions Club.
John was preceded in death by Elaine, his loving wife of 42 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Elon McGuire of Weatherford, Texas; and son, John Randolph McGuire, IV and wife, Dusty of Lago Vista, Texas; grandchildren; Brandon Kimbrell and wife, Sharaty, Jacob McGuire, and Sienna McGuire; great grandchildren; Johnathan Kimbrell, Arriana Kimbrell, Megan Wells, Paige Wells, and Willow Smith.
