Joseph “Joe” Edward Houghtalin, 58, of Aledo, passed away Monday afternoon, May 30, 2016 at his home. .
Joseph was born on July 31, 1957, in Union City, PA to H.J. and Katherine Houghtalin. Joe loved life and “got a kick out of making his nieces and nephews do crazy things for a dollar.” He worked in sales for the Harley Davidson dealership in Bedford. Throughout his career, Joe was known for always ‘looking out for his employees.’ Most of all, Joe will be affectionately remembered for his love of family, friends, and his love for his dogs, Jack and Ladybug.
Joe is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Brian Joseph (Taryn) Houghtalin and grandson, Jaxon; sisters, Marilyn Houghtalin and Susan (Robert) Andrews; parents-in-law, Richard and Alice Howe; brothers-in-law, David Howe, JulieAnn (niece) Kevin and Tom (nephew), Rick Howe (Maxine), Shalene and Kendra (nieces); and was a favorite uncle, “unc” to Katherine Waters, Julia Parton, Jared Andrews, and Aaron Andrews; and by 11 great-nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 5:00 P.M., Sunday, June 5, at the Texas Harley Davidson Dealership, 1921 Shoalmont Road, in Bedford, Texas. Casual dress is requested. A ‘memorial ride’ in Joe’s honor will start at 10:00 with kickstands up at 10:30. The riders will leave Texas Harley for Mary’s in Strawn and return in time for the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA, the Alzheimers Association, or to a charity of choice
