Joseph J. Nelms, 81, of Weatherford passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018. He was born May 25, 1937, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Edwin McCount and Anna Louise McCount Nelms. Joe was adopted by Leonard Houston Nelms in 1942. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1958 with an Architectural Engineering degree. Joe retired after 30 years with the US Army Corp of Engineers, working ten years with the City of Weatherford.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sondra Anne Nelms; two daughters, Janyce Elaine Holmosly and D’Anne Nelms; one son, Howard J. Nelms; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a half-sister, Cathy Barrow.
A memorial service will be held at Central Christian Church, Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.
