Joseph Lawrence Wright

Joseph Lawrence Wright, 75, passed from this life Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was born January 11, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas to the late James William Wright and Helen (Bierschenk) Wright.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Linda. They met in church. He and Linda married on October 5, 1968, and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Joseph loved his three children, Kevin Wright, Dr. Heather Wright, and Joseph Jay Wright; and he delighted in his granddaughter, Alexandra Wright. Joseph is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Davis, and Leonard, David, and Robert Wright; and many nieces and nephews; as well as his Blue Heeler rescue dog named Chili, who was named for her chill demeanor and faithful companionship.

Joseph first graduated from Peaster High School, Weatherford College, and then from UTA with a Bachelor's degree. He was a mechanical engineer; he could fix just about anything and if he didn't know how to fix it then he would figure it out. If there was a part that was needed and he didn't have it then he would make the part himself. Joseph had an eye for diagnostics and a passion for vintage cars, so he loved working on them and sharing his knowledge with others; he could point out a car and tell you the year, make, and model easily. Joseph also loved tractors, particularly Allis-Chalmer tractors which he collected, they could be found all over the pasture at any time, even if they weren't running because he knew they still were useful for spare parts.

Joseph faithfully served his family and community with dedication; he was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus for many decades and of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Helen and J. W. Wright; and siblings, Mary Martin and Patrick Wright.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with Rosary at 10:20 a.m., at the St. Stephen Catholic Church,1802 Bethel Rd, Weatherford, Texas.
