Josephine Riley Story, 92, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning, March, 25, 2020. She died as she lived, loving all of God's amazing creations, and was lead to heaven by her beloved cardinals.
She was an avid bird watcher, loved books, enjoyed painting seashells, writing poetry, and loved corresponding with her family, friends and many penpals from all over the world, via letters and email. She loved sharing stories about her adventures as an Army wife traveling from state-to-state, Japan and Iran. She also shared exotic recipes from her travels; which birds and butterflies were visiting; and what animals she saw at the "wildlife refuge" created from the pond that never held water.
Josephine is survived by her daughter. Shannon Story; nieces. Lera Riley, Eva (Suzie) Riley, and Elizabeth Scheffe (Darwin); nephews, Mark Riley (Cindy) and Kevin Riley; and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces.
Josephine was preceded in death by her mother, Maud Pollard Riley; father, Joseph James Riley; brothers, Leroy (Pat), James and Homer Riley and husband, Douglas Story.
A small gathering of family and friends will celebrate a "Joy of A Life" memorial which will be held at the home she cherished, where her ashes will be scattered at the wildlife refuge. Memorial to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please give to:
