On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Josie Stanton died suddenly after a short illness in Weatherford, Texas. She was 71 years old. Josie was born on February 8, 1953 in Cañoncito, New Mexico. She was a high school graduate of Palo Verde High School in Tucson, Arizona and went on to attend beauty school in Fort Worth, Texas.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie and her husband; two grandchildren, Justin and Jaycie.
She was a long time and retired employee of Power Service Products, Inc. A member of the Church of Christ since childhood, she cherished her church family. Josie never let her physical challenges hold her back from pursuing her goals.
Josie acquired many Navajo artifacts and jewelry on her trips to see family in New Mexico. She always loved to teach others about her Navajo heritage through her collections. Josie was a loyal friend who loved to generously entertain. She loved to have friends over to her house to play cards, watch a movie or just reminisce.
Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery. At Josie’s request, there will be no funeral. Instead, she asked loved ones to attend a church service, learn more about the foster care system, and open your hearts to love and each other.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Shriners Children’s at https://lovetotherescue.org.
