Joyce Evelyn Bennett

Joyce Evelyn Bennett, 88, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 1:00 p.m., Friday, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 6657 N FM 113, Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Bennett family suggests contributions to Alzheimer’s Association North Central Chapter, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.

Joyce Evelyn Mahaffey Bennett was born July 6, 1929, in Eastland County, daughter of the late Hugh Charles and Clara Goss Mahaffey. She worked for Weatherford I.S.D. and was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. In her spare time, Joyce liked to sew and quilt and was involved with Meals on Wheels of Weatherford. She also loved to travel, particularly on cruises. But above all, Joyce dearly loved her family and was very involved in their lives.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, B. R. Bennett; a son, Charles Bennett; her parents; and four siblings.

Survivors: son, Earnest Bennett and wife, Marilee, of Weatherford; daughter, Debra Bennett of Weatherford; daughter-in-law, Belinda Bennett of Belton; five grandchildren and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
