Juanita Alvarez

Juanita (Cedillo) Alvarez, age 72, passed away from this life on Saturday, June 3, 2023. She was born March 6, 1951, in Laredo, Texas to Simon Cedillo and Maria (Nunez) Cedillo. Juanita lived her life with a good work ethic, and for many years she worked as a security officer guarding federal inmates who were ill. Juanita retired from security when she began to lose her eyesight. For the majority of her life, she became a collector of treasures, antiques, and a vast array of angel figurines that she found at garage sales and estate sales, oftentimes reselling them at the Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston area flea markets. Juanita was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Maria Cedillo, and by her beloved husband, John Alvarez.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Neva Rodriguez and husband, Al of Weatherford, Texas; son, John Alvarez, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Saginaw, Texas; son, Moses Alvarez and wife, Jennifer of Saginaw, Texas; seven grandchildren, Timothy Long and wife, Montana, Whitney Long, Olivia Alvarez, Alex Alvarez, Evelyn Alvarez, Taylor Alvarez, and Nicholas Alvarez; and one great grandchild, Mila Alvarez; siblings, Hilda Esensee, Irma Cerda, Diane Lopez, Linda Espinoza, and Arnold Cedillo.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, with burial to follow at East Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
