Juanita Vada Edmondson, 102, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was born the daughter of Hardy and Verna Watson Strickland on November 22, 1915 in Burkett. Juanita was a member of the Church of Christ since she was 19. She was baptized by J.P. Salyer, in the bayou, in Burkett. Juanita and her husband moved to Weatherford in 1947 with their three children and have resided in Parker County since. She was a 4-H leader while her daughter was in school and was in the Extension Club many years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, sewing and was a very hard worker. Juanita didn’t always have an easy life but lived a wonderful life because she made it that way. She loved and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Douglas Lat Edmondson and wife, Jackie, Jerry Wayne Edmondson, and La Fonda Faye Houser; grandchildren, Linda McBride, Pamela Edmondson Mills, Sherri Roscoe, Karen Houser, Don Houser, Tanya Edmondson, Michael Houser, Jason Houser; 16 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Verna Jean McCoy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer C. Edmondson; 2 brothers; a sister; and son-in-law, Donald Houser.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday evening at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are 10 am, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Burial will be 2:30 pm, at Burkett Cemetery in Burkett.
