“Judy” Laurita Smith, 80, of Granbury, Texas, passed away on Friday evening, September 3, 2021, in Granbury.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 1012 Spell Ave., Apartment A, in Cleburne, Texas.
Judy was born July 26, 1941, in Kings Mills, Arkansas to Oscar Neely and Mary Ellen Horton. She married Billy Smith on August 13, 1977. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Cleburne. Judy was a collector of “many things!” She will affectionately be remembered for being a hard worker, her caring heart, and for her devoted love for her family. She could be generous to a fault. Judy was always welcoming to everyone who entered her home.
Judy is survived by her children, Bobby (Julie) Nelson, Valerie (Roy) Bartley, and Kellie (Glenn) Martin; stepchildren, V-Ann (Ricky) Davis, Belinda (Steve) Crisp, Jessie (Connie) Smith, and Roger (Tammy) Smith; her grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Miguel (Angelina), Alicia (Jacob), Andrew (Sheyla), and Heather; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many step grandchildren; brothers, Junior (Deborah) Kumpe and Charles Kumpe; sister, Nina Rival; her brother and sister-in-law, Sammy (Phyllis) Smith and Sheila Smith; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smith in 2009; and by her son, Dicky Ray Nelson in 1961; and her granddaughter, Sara Marie in 1989; and by her beloved pets, Silby and Tigger.
