Julia Zephyrine Boukalis, 95, a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 21, 2017. She was born the oldest of 5 girls on August 26, 1921 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Julius and Kathryn Prusko.
Julia Zephyrine Boukalis, 95, of Weatherford passed away June 21, 2017. She was born August 26, 1921 to Julius and Kathryn (Struczko) Prusko. Julia was raised and educated in Worcester, MA until 1943 when she married and departed for the Canal Zone. She joined the Dept of the Army and retired as a financial Administrative Assistant after 25 years. Julia was a Staff Officer for the C.Z. G.S. of A. She also worked at district and troop level. Received the high award “Thank You Plaque” from the G.S. of A. for her activities.
She was an active member of the St. Mary’s Mission, was active in raising funds to start the parochial school in the zone, was President of Altar Ros Soc., worked closely with two orders of nuns. She also helped at the Palo Sero Lepu Colony and raising funds for medicine for needy families that the sisters attended to. Julia was a member of the C.Z. Society, Catholic Daughters of Americas, member of St. Stephens Catholic Church
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Peter Boukalis.
Survivors include children, Cynthia Humphreys, Robert Boukalis, and Kenneth Boukalis; grandchildren, Daniel Humphreys, Jeff Humphreys and Jon Paul Humphreys; great-grandchildren, Chance, Keelyn, and Marissa Humphreys; sister, Irene Kaminski; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and a Rosary will be 6-8 Monday evening at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 11 am Tuesday, June 27 at St. Stephens Catholic Church.
