Karen Michele Adkins, 57, of Weatherford, passed away late Friday, September 22, at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, following a short illness.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 6 P.M., Monday, September 25, at Harmony Baptist Church in Weatherford. Cremation has taken place and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parker County Animal Shelter.
Karen was born May 10, 1960 in Porterville, California. She will affectionately be remembered as being a “mother to many” who always strived to make everyone happy. Karen had a “big heart” which was evident in the way she loved others. She loved the holidays and went all out to decorate for the Autumn season and Christmas. Karen was active in A Hole in My Heart ministry and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Weatherford.
Karen is survived by her children, Wendy (Jeremy) Ringer, Kristin Conway, Alicia (Eduardo) Martinez, Kayleigh Adkins, Christiana Adkins, Keoni Wood, Kealoha Wood, and Leilani Wood; her mother, Sue Virdell; 15 grandchildren; her sisters, Lisa (Terry) Harwell and Lynn (Ted) Sibley; by her special extended family, Becky and John Conway; and by numerous family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Adkins; her father, William Cox; her son, Luis Martinez; and by her brother, William Boyd “Skipper” Cox.
