Kennie Ray Clark, Jr., 67, passed away June 22, 2023, at his home near Weatherford, Texas after a lengthy illness. His memorial will be held July 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm St., Weatherford, Texas.

Kennie was born on November 19, 1955, to Kennie Ray Clark, Sr., and Ruthie May Ledbetter Clark. He attended Weatherford public schools and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1974. He attended Sul Ross University and was a member of the rodeo team as a bull rider. He trained for and received his private pilot’s license so that he could fly an antique 1947 Bellanca taildragger airplane, which he also owned. Kennie was a registered Professional Land Surveyor and owned his own company, Clark Land Surveying in Acton, just outside of Granbury, Texas. After selling his surveying company, Kennie attended Tarleton State University where he graduated suma cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems. After graduating from Tarleton, Kennie’s excellent academic record and professional expertise landed him a consulting position with an oil and gas firm, where he worked until retirement. Then, on December 10, 2010, he married Shirley Anita Hall and they lived and worked together on their small ranch just outside Weatherford until his death.

Kennie was a disciplined thinker and writer of poetry, who loved music, photography, gardening, tending pecan trees, and raising cattle and dogs with his wife, Shirley. He will be sorely missed.

Kennie was preceded in death by his parents, Kennie Ray Clark, Sr., and Ruthie May Ledbetter Clark. He is survived by his wife Shirley Anita Clark, his sister Leddie Kay Martin and husband Monty, an uncle and aunt, Sandy and Pam Ledbetter, nieces and nephews: Lisa Kay Scott and husband Shane, Michelle Deanne Scott and husband Philip, Lisa Karol Forsyth, and husband Stephen, and several great nieces and nephews along with a host of close friends and acquaintances.
