Laurence Deane ‘L.D.’ Faidley, 87, recently of Haltom City, Texas, passed away on Monday afternoon, May 9, 2016, at his home.
L.D. was born August 29, 1928, in Neosho Falls, Kansas to Samuel M. and Mary I. Tidd Faidley. At age 18, proudly joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country for nearly two years. L.D. was a life-long member of the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipe Fitters Local 146 in Fort Worth. He retired in 1991 from the Fort Worth Club to focus full time on his farm and cattle business. A devout Baptist, L.D. often said his best talks with God were out in the fields tending to his land and animals. L.D. will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor and his contagious laugh. He enjoyed time spent with his family camping in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and playing games of ‘42’ and horseshoes.
L.D. is survived by his daughters, Sherry Faidley Blackshear and husband Ronald of Grapevine, Trina Faidley Gilchrist and husband Charlie of Weatherford; grandsons, Paul Blackshear and wife Stacey, Dylan Blackshear, Stephen Gilchrist and wife Pamela, and Reese Gilchrist; four great-grandchildren; and by his wife, Peggy Pippin and her children and grandchildren.
L.D. was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Janice Juanita Prichard Faidley; his son, Larry Deane Faidley; grandson, Richard W. Blackshear; brother, Maurice W. Faidley; sisters, Ada Grunwald, Dorothy Bozarth, Mary Lou Hunter, Lyla Jean Sargent, and Aileen Engle.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10 am, on Thursday, May 12, at Poolville Baptist Church in Poolville.
Burial will follow at Poolville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8, Wednesday, May 11 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford.
