Leslie Arlon “Pop” Carter, age 78, of Weatherford, died Friday, August 31, 2012, in a Fort Worth hospital. Leslie was born February 8, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a mechanic all of his life, he started cleaning parts in his father’s shop as a child. Leslie worked other jobs but always came back to mechanics retiring from the Texas Highway Dept. In 1991 as a mechanic and welder after 20 years. His best friend was Jesus Christ. Leslie was saved in 1946 and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elda Carter; sister, Wanda Howell and brother in law, Frank Howell; father in law, Clarence Thompson and mother in law, Loree Butler; grandson, Edwin Carter; and an infant granddaughter.
Survivors: wife of 60 years, Nelly Jane Carter; daughters, Gail Hull and husband, Floyd of Weatherford and Dianna Armstrong of Lubbock; sons, Louis Carter and wife, Marcy of Weatherford and Allen Carter and wife, Laura of Mineral Wells; sisters, Fern Cox and husband, Bill of Cleburne, Donice Nichols and husband, Francis of Weatherford, and ReVay Bullock and husband, Rusty of Weatherford; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren
Funeral service: 2:30 p.m., Sunday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment in Johnson Cemetery.
