Lois Mae Jenkins

August 13, 1918 — October 9, 2011

Lois Mae Jenkins, 93, of Weatherford, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 9, 2011.  Lois was born August 13, 1918 in Concho County to Maymie and Austin Conn.
Mrs. Jenkins married George D. Jenkins on September 11, 1943.  Soon after they moved to Colorado Springs as he was stationed at Fort Carson.  Following the completion of his overseas tour the couple moved to London, Texas for a few years before settling in Melvin, Texas.
A ranchers wife, Lois did a little of everything as Mr. Jenkins was postmaster in Melvin, Texas.  Lois was a servant at heart.  She maintained an active membership in every Baptist Church in towns where she resided.  In Melvin she was a secretary and pianist for the Sunday school department.  She volunteered in the nursery at First Baptist Church Plano.  Most recently she joined the membership of North Side Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jenkins was best known in the community for her cooking.  When there was a bake sale, her pecan pie was tops on the list.  A favorite of her son-in-law was peach cobbler.  Her hobbies included quilting and crochet and spending time with her family.  She adored her grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, Kenneth Glenn Jenkins.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Mahon and husband, Jim; four grandchildren, Austin Michael Jenkins and wife, Vicky, Amber Michelle Keeney and husband, Ryan, Jennifer Lloyd and husband, Michael and Mark Ryan Mahon and wife, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Charity Faith, Ryan, Trenton, Ethan, Owen and Jackson; daughter-in-law, Vicci Jenkins and a niece, Shirley Swaim and husband, Floyd.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will follow the ceremony.  Burial will be at 10 AM Wednesday in Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to; Preschool Childrens Ministry at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
