Luther M. Walters a corporal in the United Sates Army Air Force during World War II was born August 11, 1924 to George and Una Walters in Roanoke Virginia. He died Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 in Weatherford, Texas at the age of 90 ½. He was a faithful, loving and loyal husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and our hero. Luther was married to Mary Ruth Walters for 64 years, 1 month and 5 days. He was a good Christian man and a hard worker. He retired from Bell Helicopter after 40 years as an aviation assembler. He also worked 14 ½ years at Convair. He retired at the age of 77. Besides being with his family he loved traveling in their motor home seeing as much of the United States as he could. He loved sports and especially his Texas Rangers. Many was the night he could be found in his chair watching the Rangers on TV with a transistor radio in his ear also tuned to the rangers and reading the newspaper. That was his idea of a great evening. He is survived by his wife Mary. Three children – Patricia, Michael and his wife Deborah and Cynthia and her husband Kenneth. Two Grandchildren – Julia and her husband Bruce and David and his wife Cristi. And Seven Great-Grandchildren – Codey, Tyler, Ashlyn, Jules, Lyla, Trevor and Tristan. He is also survived by one younger brother Ray Walters and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation 2-4pm Sunday, Feb. 8th at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford.
Funeral service 10am Monday, February 9th at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Graveside service 2pm same day at DFW National Cemetery.
