Mike Uzzel, 76, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018, surrounded by family in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Willow Park Baptist Church, 129 S. Ranch House Road, Willow Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Galbreaith-Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Road, Willow Park. Mike will be laid to rest at a later date in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Malcolm Douglas “Mike” Uzzel was born March 20, 1942, in Tyler, the youngest of two sons to Billie and Louise Beasley Uzzel. He attended Texas A&M University and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was in the insurance business for 34 years, most recently with Allstate insurance company in Granbury. Mike loved to share the Gospel and devoted more than 45 years to Gideons International. He was also involved with various civic and fraternal clubs including Granbury Citizens Police Academy, Benbrook Senior Citizen Center, American Legions and VFW. In his free time, Mike loved to hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle, and being an umpire in his beloved sport of baseball for many years. However, he had a real gift for writing poetry about practically any topic.

Mike and Rose were married in Tyler and just recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Mike was a member of Willow Park Baptist Church and Westridge Nazarene Church.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Rush Uzzel.

Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Rose Uzzel of Benbrook; children, Clay Uzzel of Benbrook, Melissa Hall and husband, Randy, of North Richland Hills, and Charlotte Hillegas and husband, Richard, of Lipan; grandchildren, Elyse Hall, Lauren Hillegas, Kasey Sanders and husband, Austin, Andrew Uzzel, and Ashley Uzzel; great-granddaughters, Baylee, Adrienne, and Annie; and a host of loving church family and friends.
