Marjorie Nelle Nelson McKinzie

Marjorie Nelle Nelson McKinzie, 85, of Odessa passed from this life Monday, August 14, 2017. Funeral service: 11 a.m, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Tin Top Cemetery. Visitaiton: 6-8 p.m, Tuesday at the funeral home. Marjorie was born August 24, 1931, to Samuel Daniel Nelson and Lena Carter Nelson in Weatherford, Texas. She married Billy John McKinzie on October 15, 1948 in Weatherford, Texas. They were married 44 years until his death. They moved to Odessa in 1948. She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a Bible teacher for over 40 years. Her greatest joy was being with her family. She loved cooking, reading and trying to catch the biggest fish ever. She is preceded in death by parents, her husband Bill, her sisters, Vaudine Bullington, Mary Nelson and brothers, Coy Nelson and Acey Nelson. Marjorie is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Paul Ferguson of Fort Worth, daughter and son-in-law, Kara McKinzie and Mike Sprick of Odessa, grandsons, John Ferguson and Justin Sprick, fiance' Will Wilson of Weatherford; sister-in-law Mary Tackett of Weatherford many nieces, nephews and a host of other family members.
A very special thank you to Dr. John Doran for his care for many years, the staff which she considered her family at Madison Medical Resort, Dr. Scotty Ortega and all the doctors and staff who cared for her at Medical Center Hospital. Anyone who met her loved her and will never forget her and her big black rimmed glasses.
