Martha Jane (Jim) King

May 14, 1916 — June 7, 2008

Martha Jane (Jim) King of Garner, died Saturday June 7, 2008, at the age of 92. Born May 14, 1916, she was the youngest of nine children of John Thomas Baker and Timmie Inez Herring Baker. Jim was born and raised on the Baker Farm just north of Mineral Wells.  She graduated from Mineral Wells High School, attended North Texas University and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Science in Education. She was married to Delmar King of Garner, Texas on December 22, 1941 in Mineral Wells. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on December 1, 1991. Jim was a member of the Millsap Eastern Star Lodge, Parker County Retired Teacher Association, Authon Community Club and Bethesda United Methodist Church, where she played piano for almost 25 years.  She was a substitute and Sunday school teacher in Abilene and Fort Worth. Jim was a dedicated wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her husband Delmar, and is survived by two sons who reside on the King Farm; Larry Baker King, and wife Lisa, Kenneth Richard King, and wife Bonnie, a sister, Inez Baker Ludden of Denton, grandchildren Kyle, Mike and Tonya and many nieces and nephews.   The King Family wishes to thank the staff of the Sterling House and Holland Lake for the many years of care given to Jim.    

Funeral service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. John Johnson and Rev.  Ken Bergeron officiating.

Interment: Bethesda Cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 PM, Tuesday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
