Martha Joe Leatherman, age 80, passed from this life on Monday, August 5, 2024. Martha was born December 9, 1943, in Garner, Texas, to Caleb Jobe and Adina Blaylock Jobe.
Martha dedicated her life to being a homemaker and also worked at the cafeteria of Garner School. A devout member of Garner Baptist Church, Martha was known for her many talents, exceptional baking and cooking skills, notably her famous coconut crème pies that were always in high demand, and as a seamstress.
She found joy in solving crossword puzzles, completing jigsaw puzzles, and embarking on travels with her sisters, mother, and daughter. Martha was a loving grandmother and often doted on her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Leatherman, Sr.
Martha is survived by her husband, Earnest Leatherman of Weatherford, Texas; children, Carl Leatherman (Rebekah), Gregory Leatherman (Michelle), and Tina Leatherman; nine grandchildren, Derek Leatherman, Blake Leatherman, Codey Leatherman, Gareth Leatherman, Candice Morland, Jessica Leatherman, Timothy Leatherman, Jr., Alisha Dawn Leatherman, and Devon Leatherman.
Additional survivors included nineteen great-grandchildren, Carson Leatherman, Skyler Hicks, Kayden Leatherman, Mackenzie Parum, Hayden Leatherman, Wyatt Leatherman, Tobias Leatherman, Philomena-Rose "Ena" Leatherman, Zayne Leatherman, Kylo Leatherman, Archer Benham, Chase Leatherman-Nichols, Jasper Leatherman, Shane Travis, Ziva Travis, Grace Morland, Roland Travis, Aubrey Leatherman, and Cooper Leatherman; and sister, Mary Holguin.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Garner Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas. Following the ceremony will be a burial at Bethesda Cemetery.
Martha will be fondly remembered for the love she shared with her family and community. Her presence will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on through the memories she created with those she held dear. May she rest in peace.
