Mary Frances "Babs" Lane

July 11, 1917 — October 7, 2010

Mary Frances “Babs” Lane started a new journey Thursday, October 7, 2010. She left this life at home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Frances was born to George Washington Cogburn and Nora Swofford Cogburn on July 11, 1917, in Weatherford. She was 93 years old. 

She married Lee Dixon Lane on September 26, 1935, who preceded her in death June 17, 1981. They had two children, Addalee Lane Sears and Timothy Pruit Lane. She joined Couts Methodist Church when she was 10 years old, and remained a faithful member for 83 years. She was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School class.   

She was employed by Bergman, Grogan and Rothrock insurance for many years. Mary Frances served faithfully with the United Methodist Women and volunteered at Manna and Meals on Wheels. She served many other family and community members unselfishly, until her health no longer allowed. 

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Franklin Pruit Cogburn; George Washington Cogburn, Jr. and Ray Cogburn; and three sisters, Zadie Lee Cogburn Grogan, Vivian Cogburn, and Nola Cogburn Gaiser.   

Mary Frances is survived by her daughter, Addalee Lane Sears and husband, J.C. Sears; her son, Timothy Pruit Lane and wife, Maggie Lane. Nannie had seven grandchildren, Timothy Alan Lane; Leanna Abultoli; Clif Sears and wife, Cindy; Juli Prichard-Greene and husband, Jamie Greene; Lee Sears and wife, Romy; Jeff Sears and wife, Kathy; Ray King and wife, Brandi;15 great grandchildren, Keeley Frances Sears; Kodie Sears; Katie Sears; Heylee Sears; Reese Sears; Jessica Sears; John Reedy; Kasey Prichard; Kaylei Prichard; Jacie Prichard;  Timothy Lee Lane; Amanda Lane; Trey Lane; Aaron King; and Tyler King. She also had two great, great grandchildren, Reylee Lane and Aubree Sears; and a very special cousin, David Robinson; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, and her lifetime friend, Juanita Wood. 

Mary Frances was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a child of God, and a faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Women through Couts Methodist Church.
