Mary Helen Young

Mary Helen Traylor Young passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born November 26, 1917 in Palestine, Texas to Wesley William Traylor and Winnie Louise Sherlock. She married Alvin Richard Young on the 6th of June 1939. She was a mother to three boys, Alton Ray Young, Billy Robert Young and Danny Joe Young. Mary was a grandmother to 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Mary was a homemaker and helped her husband with the books and payroll in his building business for many years. Mary and Alvin first moved to Weatherford in 1939, but lived all over the state including Midland, Bedford, Brenham, Anson and eventually settled back in Weatherford in 1990.
One of Mary’s greatest pleasures was cooking and her recipes were frequently requested and published. She also enjoyed painting ceramics and game nights with friends.
She was a great, loving mother and sister to her siblings.
Mary “Helen” will be missed by all of us that loved her.
She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Young; sons Ray and Bill Young; two brothers and a sister.
Mary is survived by her son Danny; daughter-in-law Susan; her brother Don and sister Dorthy; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many cousins and friends.


Funeral service 2:00pm Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Victory Baptist Church, Brother Jonathan Stewart will officiate. Interment at Santo North Cemetery.  Visitation 6-8pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
