It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Mary (Hernandez) Salazar, 88, of Weatherford, TX, on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 1:09 a.m.
Mary was born on September 25, 1934, to Juan and Refugio Hernandez in George West, TX. She was the last surviving sibling of 16 children. Mary and her husband, Benito, had 12 children of their own. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Benito Salazar; her daughters, Mary Ann Valdez, Susie Morales and Refugia Salazar; and her son, David Salazar.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Virginia Salazar-Jewell, Benita Cantu, Anita Trejo and Gloria Hernandez; by her sons, Daniel Salazar, Feodor Salazar, Jonathan Salazar and Gregory Salazar; and by Johnny Salazar and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the medical teams, at both Weatherford and Fort Worth hospitals, for their dedication and hard work. They also wish to express their gratitude to Dr. Thomas Rajan, Mary’s nephrologist, for his compassionate care; to the staff at College Park Nursing Home, where Mary was a resident for more than two years; and to Wedgwood Nursing Home, for the hospice team who kept vigil in her final days.
In honor of Mary’s wishes, a private gravesite memorial was held at Curtis Cemetery with her family in attendance. May Mary’s soul rest in eternal peace, Amen.
Revelation 21:4 (KJV)
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
