Mary Jane Jackson, age 91, of Weatherford, Texas, died on November 25, 2013. Mary Jane was the daughter of John A. and Annie P. McIver. Born in 1922 in Dallas, Texas, she was a graduate of Baylor University (B.A.) and Texas Women’s University (M.Ed.). Mary Jane was employed by the Weatherford I.S.D. for 36 years, teaching second grade at Travis Elementary for most of those years. Her passions in life included her love of teaching, reading, learning, music, travel, and interacting with people. She especially loved visiting and interacting with her four grandchildren. Her Christian faith was a foundation to her from her childhood. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford where she played the violin in the church chamber orchestra for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jackson, also of Weatherford.
Surviving are: her two children, daughter Roxanne Soroosh Snell (husband Gary), and son Robert Soroosh (wife Lydia); her sister Ray Collins (husband Robert); her four grandchildren, Dr. Naomi Simon, Stephen Soroosh, Sarah Vandergoot, and Rebekah Corley; and her four great grandchildren, Elias and Samuel Simon, and Jordan and Hudson Vandergoot.
Due to pending weather, Mary Jane Jackson's service has been postponed to a later date.
