Mary “Jean” Durham, 82, of Millsap, passed away on Sunday morning, October 21, in Weatherford.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the Galbreith-Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Access Road, in Willow Park in Willow Park. Burial will be private at a later date.
Jean was born on March 23, 1936 in London, England, to Ernest and Charlotte Stoate. She married Charles Durham on October 3, 1953. Together they had two children, Sharron and Steven. Jean was the ‘matriarch’ of her family who was affectionately known to be “tiny but mighty.” She will be remembered for always bringing out the best in people and for her generous heart. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing. Most of all, Jean will be remembered as being an affectionate mother and “Nanny.”
Jean is survived by her daughter, Sharron Austin-Burwash and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Travis and wife Carol Austin, Tyler and wife Kristen Austin and Bailey and fiancée, Stephen Ruland; one great-grandchild; Eberly Mc Call; nieces and nephews, Louise, Martin, Frezzy and Nicola.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Durham; son, Steven; and by her siblings, Doris Codling and Fred Stoate; and by her niece, Sandra Lipscombe.
