Mary Joanne "Jody" Whitmire

  Mary Joanne “Jody” Whitmire formerly of Monahans, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday Morning, January 20, 2019.

  Jody was born May 1, 1934, in Mexia, Texas, to Ralph and Julie Moore. Jody graduated from Monahans High School in 1951. She married Billy Don Whitmire August 1, 1952. Jody and Don have four children who were all born in Monahans, Lorie, Donna, Judy, and James. 

  She worked as a bookkeeper for Arco Oil and Gas as well as for her brother-in-law, Dr. Ted Whitmire. After retiring she devoted her time to her family and friends who she adored. Jody enjoyed keeping in touch with her class mates and published a class newsletter as well as archived classmate history.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Don Whitmire; her parents, Ralph and Julia Moore; brothers, Ralph and Bill Moore; sister-in-laws, Billie and Faye Moore; grandson, Rondon Whitmire; and great-grandson, Devin Harrison. 

  She is survived by her children; daughter-in-law, Lori; son-in-law, Lewis Herrington; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services for Mary Joanne Whitmire will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel at 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford, Texas, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

  A memorial service for West Texas family and friends will take place at First Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas, on Wednesday, January 23rd at 1:00 p.m.
