Mary Olive Jones, the devoted wife of minister Lon Jones, for over 70 years, passed on, into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at Brookdale Assisted Living Weatherford, Texas, on June 24th, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her first child, Janet Kay Jones (age 4), in November, 1957; also by her parents, Guy P. and Ruby Walker, and her sister, Guy Nell Morriss.
Mary, with her husband, served the Lord in Churches of Christ throughout Texas and Holland for some 65 years at Talco, Star, Cisco, Lampasas, and New Road in Waco. They served as missionaries for 7.5 years in The Hague, The Netherlands.
The esteem in which Mary was held is typified in a letter she recently received from a friend who stated: “You were always there for everyone”, and “your gentleness touched my heart at a time when I needed that love and assurance.”
She is survived by her loving husband, Lon Jones; her beloved children, Debra Robbins and husband, Tom, Stan Jones and wife, Loretta, Lori Bowling and husband, Steve, and Sharla Austin; by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; also by her brother, Bob Walker and wife, Jaci; and her sisters-in-law, Nelda Kelsoe, Alma Lois Jones, Annette Jones, and Helen Jones.
