Melba “Joyce” Miller, 86, of Weatherford, passed away early on Friday, March 23, 2018. A Graveside Service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Annetta Cemetery in Annetta, Texas. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with her arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Alzheimer’s Research or to Peachtree Place in Weatherford.
Joyce was born on October 12, 1931, in DeKalb, Texas. She was one of four children born to Willis and Ruby Whatley. Joyce married E.G. Miller in 1950 and together had four children. Joyce and her husband were co-owners of Merchants Fast Motor Lines in Weatherford and Mineral Wells. She loved all sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed entertaining and having family gatherings both at her home and her lake cabin known as the “Miller’s High Life.” Most of all, Joyce will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family – particularly to her children and grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her children, Terry (Janet) Miller of Granbury, Randy Miller of Arlington, Kathy (Tim) Swearingin of Weatherford, Barry (Angie) Miller of Nashville, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren; and by 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, E.G.; and by her brothers, Willis and Jack; and twin brother, Madren Boyce “Buddy” Whatley.
