Mellavene Gifford

Mellavene Gifford, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, August 7, 2021, in Weatherford, Texas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, August 11, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Springtown Cemetery, in Springtown, Texas.

Mellavene was born on September 24, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Herman Lewis and Clarkia Sanders. Mellavene was a worthy matron of the Eastern Star. She loved going fishing, working word search puzzles, bowling, and playing BINGO. Additionally, she enjoyed doing crafts including quilting and making African cross stitch. Mellavene was a security guard at the Naval Base in Hawthorne, Nevada.

Mellavene is survived by her children, Berniece Calhoun, Bruce Gifford, Branda Jackson, Thomas Gifford, Johnnie Gifford, and Tammy Bradshaw; by her grandchildren, Tricia, Elena, Katie, Samantha, Magen, Vanessa, and Douglas; and by her great-grandchildren, Bryson, Nicole, Elizabeth, Devin, and Donnie.

Mellavene was preceded in death by her parents.
