Melville Bond McMurry

Melville Bond McMurry, 81, of Weatherford, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in a Weatherford nursing facility. Born July 15, 1927 in Amarillo, Mel was a resident of Midland before moving to Parker County. He graduated with a B.S. from Texas A&M University in Geology and Geophysics and a M.S. from Texas A&I University in Petroleum Engineering. Mel was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Midland. He loved to travel with his family in his RV. 

Mel is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty J. McMurry of Weatherford,  daughters, Malinda B. McMurry of Morehead, KY and Dr. Melanie B. McMurry of Morgantown, WV; son, Mark B. McMurry of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Olivia McMurry Gearner and Clarissa Vashti Gearner both of Morehead, KY. 

Funeral service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2008 in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with Pastor K.C. Blackketter officiating.

Interment: Annetta Cemetery.

Visitation: 10 to 11:30 AM prior to the service.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
