Michael "Mike" Andrew Burris

Michael “Mike” Andrew Burris, age 75, of Weatherford, Texas passed away on June 30, 2023, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Mike was born on June 12, 1948, in Texarkana, Arkansas to Herbert and Ray Burris. Services for Mike will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel in Willow Park. Burial will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on July 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Burris and mother, Ray Burris and brother, James Todd Burris. He is survived by his wife, Rhuenell; daughter, Tiffany Freeman and husband Doug, and daughter, Lindsey Walker and husband Chris; along with grandchildren, Collin Walker and Ainsley Walker; and grandchildren in love, Ashlyn Freeman and Megan Freeman. In addition, he is survived by sister, Linda Dixon of Fort Worth, Texas; and brothers, Phil Burris and wife Rebel of Fort Worth, Texas and Ricky Burris of Fort Worth, Texas; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends he considered family.

Mike attended White Settlement schools and graduated from Brewer High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Marine Corp after graduation and served in the Vietnam War. He worked at Lockheed Martin for 33 years where he retired as the Assistant Fire Chief. He also served in the White Settlement Volunteer Fire Department from 1974 to 1986. After Mike, Rhuenell, and the girls moved to Weatherford in 1986, Mike was active in the Parker County Livestock Association, Weatherford High School Soccer Booster Club and served on the Parker County Tax Board. During retirement, Mike and Rhuenell enjoyed traveling and watching their grandchildren’s activities. Mike also liked playing in his weekly golf game with high school buddies and completing projects with his neighbor.
